Big florals were a huge trend on the runways this Fashion Week, but there’s no need to wait until spring 2013 to break out the blooms.

A simple way to switch up your wardrobe for the season: just pair your favorite cuffed denim with a silk button-down blouse in a pretty, vintage-y print (I love how the colors of this one make it look like I might have inherited it from my mother), a ladylike bag, and a killer pair of heels.

This purse is seasonless, but the structured look is perfect for adding balance to autumn outfits featuring prints and layered textures.

Did I say “killer heels”? Why yes I did.

Tell me these aren’t killer.

Go on.

You can’t do it.

One of my hands-down favorite trends seen on the runways this week: a retro, tropical vibe that was all about ’60s beach-town glamour. And the look worked beautifully on the clothing (take, for example, the above shot from Carolina Herrera). Accessories are an even more affordable (and versatile) way to infuse your wardrobe with a healthy dose of the trend.

For handbags, try a soft shape, colorblocking, and metallic accents (like the Rebecca Minkoff look pictured here).

Jewelry is elegant but still unquestionably glamorous: a single chunky gold toggle bracelet (as seen at DVF) or a long, ’70s-style strand of beads.

And for shoes, think understated but still bold: a metallic cap toe (as spotted at See by Chloe) or a hit of two-tone contrast.

And who says that we need to wait for Spring 2013 to take this gorgeous look for a test-run? To try out the trend now, swap out the pastels for Fall-perfect teal and burgundy, and go for shapes with a little more structure.

I’m a crazy Rebecca Minkoff fangirl.

See? That’s me with my favorite purse; the one that goes with every single thing in my closet, looks right for every occasion, and is never evereverever hitting the Goodwill pile. Ever.

And Rebecca’s Spring 2013 Ready-To-Wear show only solidified my fangirlness, because it was beautiful.

Any show that opens with a live performance by Tennis (mixed with beats by DJ Cassidy) is a show that I’m going to love. Like the music, the vibe was sweet and fresh…but still unquestionably cool, like a 1960s Florida lounge populated by beautiful women wearing oversized shades and unironically sipping cocktails with little plastic monkeys in them.

Let’s take a look, in case that explanation didn’t quite hit home for you.

In a nice spin on much of Fashion Week’s fare, every single piece at Rebecca Minkoff was 100%, top-to-bottom wearable. Take, for example, the looks that paired feminine blazers with vintage-y rock tees: this is an outfit you can probably throw together right this very moment using pieces you already own. Love that.

An immediate standout: the subtly tropical prints. They’re retro in a completely elegant way, and would look gorgeous paired with anything from a white pantsuit to weekend denim.

In a refreshing switch-up from the skinny silhouettes we’ve been seeing for seasons now, pants had a gentle flare, and featured pretty floral detailing.

Let’s take a seriously long look at this outfit, because every single part of it is wonderful. I need to own those shorts immediately.

And finally, the highlight of the show for me: a red-and-cream bandanna-inspired confection with a gorgeously boho vibe.

On the beauty side, we saw textured waves, aqua nails, glowing skin, and some totally beautiful (and, again, wearable!) eye makeup: black eyeliner paired with a pop of mint around the inner corners (try applying Stila Eyeshadow in Cha Cha with a wet brush for a similar look).

Can’t wait until spring to wear Rebecca’s pieces? I can’t either. Here are some of my favorite fall-perfect Rebecca Minkoff items available on Piperlime right this very minute.
