Wardrobe Styling Shortcut: Day to Night

When it comes to my wardrobe, remixing is a must. I especially love pieces that transition easily from work to weekend. I’ve styled this gorgeous China blue silk blouse from Joie for both day and night looks. Let’s break down each outfit by the simple shortcuts that define each look.

For an office-ready ensemble:

- Pair with a pencil skirt
- Carry a large leather bag (like this, this or this)
- Go with a classic watch
- Add patent cap toed pumps (similar)

To switch things up for the evening:

- Swap in a cross body bag (in a rainbow of colors)
- Change into sexy skinny jeans
- Go for a higher heel

To keep the transition simple, I’ve opted to use black with both my skirt and jeans and kept my jewelry the same. Just a quirk change and I’m ready to go!

Love how you said, “Just a quirk change and I’m ready to go!” in the last sentence. I don’t know if you intended it as a play on words or not, but cute regardless!!!

Those heels are perfection! Where are they from?

If you’re changing everything but your skirt.. how is that more efficient than just changing your outfit? That is a lot of extra clothes to lug around if you’re actually working and then going out.

Whenever I have worn a silk blouse tucked in all day at work, and then untuck it, the tucked in part is ALWAYS creased and wrinkled from a day of wear. Silk might not be the most practical day to evening suggestion.

That skirt is too short for the office and it’s not tailored. Where’s the jacket? I’m sorry but where does this girl work that this outfit is for the office? And the shoes for night are better suited for a dress than the outfit to the right. The pants look too sloppy cuffed and they overwhelm the shoes. A shorter pants are in order.
